Empire Revival is evolving to be more of a contemporary boutique department store. We now also stock interesting, unusual and good quality, jewellery, fashion, furniture, and homewares, some of which will be new, pre-loved or recycled.

Empire Revival s an iconic building on Latrobe Terrace, Paddington. Building commenced in 1929 and the Plaza Theatre opened in September, 1930. Being one of only 2 atmospheric theatres in Australia, it was part of the short lived Picture Palace movie theatre phenomenon. The Plaza theatre also hosted dances and balls mainly for the local school of Marist Brothers Rosalie. In the early 1960's the Plaza Theatre ceased to operate as a cinema and a level floor was installed and the building was used for indoor basketball.

This heritage listed building has been used as an antique centre since May 1985. Taken over by the current owners in October 2008. With more than 50 dealers in the centre, you can always expect a great variety of stock, including English, Australian, French & Asian furniture, collectable costume and estate jewellery, vintage and retro clothing and accessories, lighting, Australian pottery, clocks & watches, photographic equipment, china, glass, silver, linen, buttons, military, rustic European, arts & crafts, art nouveau, art deco and much more.

Each month our foyer is given a new look with different displays and exhibits. Using stock from our many dealers as well as private collectors. It is well worth spending some time in the foyer when you next visit. Some of our previous displays have included photographic, art deco, country wedding and Japan & the Orient.

A welcome addition to the centre is the Plaza Theatre Cafe which opened in April 2011. The cafe is situated up the stairs to the left of the main counter. All food is baked and prepared on the premises. High teas are also available.
